A Dream that Healed…

Like many of you, my journey into healing started with a scary illness that couldn’t be treated with traditional medicine.

When I was 21 years old, I learned that there was a golf-ball sized growth rapidly growing at the base of my neck. I dropped out of college because I was too sick to attend classes, and I went through months of hospitals filled with traditional doctors and traditional treatments. I was finally admitted to the hospital, where they biopsied the cyst to discover that I had Cat Scratch Fever. This resulted in a lymph node infection, but even with antibiotics, my body struggled to fight the infection.

I felt powerless and isolated, and in my weakened state, I realized I had to strengthen my immune system so I could heal. My healing journey began that day— I sought out alternative healing therapists, and discovered a Naturopath who helped me discover acupuncture. I began exercising regularly and changing my diet, though because my body was in a heightened state of anxiety, my recuperation was slow.

As a self-employed artist and single parent, my focus has always been on creating a healthy and happy life for me and my son. With acupuncture, organic, healthy food choices, exercises, and connecting with nature, we found the pillars that allowed us to have a balanced lifestyle.

Frequent acupuncture treatments kept our bodies in balance, they eliminated my son’s seasonal allergies and helped me manage my stress and heal past emotional traumas.

Acupuncture is a powerful treatment that brought balance back into my life, and I’m honored to share this healing medicine with you.

Education

My Bachelor’s degree is in psychology/sociology with a personal pursuit as a hospice volunteer.  I am a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of Maryland.  In the three year Master’s Program in Acupuncture at Maryland University of Integrative Health, I had over 3500 class and clinical hours covering physiology, anatomy, internal medicine, acupuncture theory and practical techniques.

I am practiced in two styles of Acupuncture: Five Element and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).  Five Element has a strong emphasis on balancing emotional and spiritual issues.  TCM is looking at balancing patterns of disharmony in the physical body, which leads to peace of mind.  Both of these styles of Acupuncture relieve pain and treats disease by restoring the normal flow of energy in the body.

In my practice of acupuncture, the patient is addressed holistically, in order to treat the root issue of the problem.
